International nurses day is organized on 12 may to celebrate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. Each year the international council of nurses comes up with a theme to honor nurses. In this year, 2021 the theme was “NURSES:A VOICE TO LEAD- A VISION FOR FUTURE HEALTHCARE’’. The theme focuses on how nurses are playing a critical role in addressing a wide range of health challenges. The day will encourage nurses and the public to celebrate the big day. It will provide information and resources so that the profession will grow throughout the year and attract a new generation into the nursing family. On that day, first year Bsc. Nursing students had done online celebration. Students prepare charts, presentations, speeches based on the theme of 2021. They celebrate this day to thank all nurses, their dedication, and work, especially during ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

As a part of implementation of Kerala Excise department “student rescue against drug habits and addition” has been launched, following the instructions from the KUHS, Thrissur SRADHA & NERKOOTTAM Committee was formed in Chitra college hostel under the supervision of Principal Prof.James Chacko along with the members in the committee on 27/07/2021. Awareness programms planned to conduct against drugs and alcohol with the help of excise department, Periodical inspection of hostel by the team will be conducted, Virtual programs were arranged regarding after effects of alcohol and drugs use among adolescence students, Free and confidential counseling services are made available for the needy one. Close monitoring of students physical as well as mental behavior. Support system will be planned for the mentally weak students. Along with this a awareness program against drug abuse were conducted in college by role play.

As a part of world breast feeding week celebration, the students of fourth year B.Sc Nursing celebrated a virtual online programme on August 6th during the pandemic situation. A role play was conducted by fourth year B.Sc Nursing students via video mode based on the theme “Protect Breast feeding-A shared responsibility”. Apart from this the students also done presentation based on theme, Logo and Objectives. More Av aids were put into live for making it in an interesting way. All the remaining batches utilized their sessions.
