Introduction

Chitra college of Nursing, Pandalam opened its doors in 2010 by the Chairman and founder Dr.L.Jayachandran of the Educational Trust. Our motto says that welcomes to the temple of Learning, listens to the words of wisdom and flies with the wings of success in the world. The Institution emphasis is primarily on value education, intellectual and clinical training of the students so that they can excel in their nursing career. Faculty members including graduates who serve to quench the thirst for knowledge of the students in a 1:10 ratio. Chitra College of Nursing is an affiliated Institution by Indian nursing council (INC), Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council (KNMC), Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. The college has been vibrating with a flurry of SNA activities with its achievement. In order to foster the psychological well being of pupil, individual and group counseling is being given. Apart from this our Institution is supported with well equipped parent hospital with all facilities.

Commencement Of Classes For The Academic Year - 2021 (2020 Admission)

Chitra college of Nursing started the academic year classes for Second, Third and Fourth year B.Sc Nursing students through online sessions from September 2020 onwards under the instructions from Principal Prof.James Chacko. Before the commencement of classes, a faculty meeting had been conducted to select the prompt class coordinators for all the four batches of students. The respective coordinators were decided to continue during the academic year 2020-2021, Mrs.Saritha Thampi for fourth year B.Sc (N), Mrs. Sandhya for Third year B.Sc (N), Mrs. Priya Krishna for Second year B.Sc (N) and Mrs. Sridevi.V.R for First year B.Sc (N). First year B.Sc Nursing students were enrolled from January 18th to the hostel and regular classes were started on the same day with covid protocol.


Orientation Of The Academic Year 2021

Orientation program for first year B.Sc (N) students was held for one week of January from 18th onwards with the objectives to orient students to the college and hospital environment with covid protocol, to provide information and opportunities to explore academic success strategies, the ability to function safely in the college/hospital/campus. The initial orientation was given by the respected Chairman Dr.L.Jayachandran, Principal Prof.James Chacko, Vice-principal Prof.SivaJayaAand and other faculties respectively with covid protocol. After invocation and prayer, the various subject co-coordinators have oriented for the students regarding their respective subject, syllabus, and the related curricular activities and solved their queries for the same. Students were oriented to different units of the college. Students were shown various departments and lab like fundamental lab, nutrition lab, community lab, paediatric/OBG lab, A.V. aids lab and computer room. Students were also oriented and given information about mentorship program. Students were also oriented with the hospital, hostel, library, mess facility, etc.
