Nurses play a key role in all of our Medical Institutions, being responsible for the Welfare, Safety and Recovery of patients. By keeping this in mind we celebrated the Nurses day of 2019 on May 6th & May 12th based on the theme “Nurses A Voice to Lead- Health for All”. At INESME, Chuttipara patahanamthitta National Nurses week celebration was Inaugurated by District Collector Shri.P.B.Nuha IAS and Deputy District Medical Officer Dr.Padhmakumari. Our IV Year & III Yr Students Organized along with Senior Nurses. They participated in various cultural programmes which were held on 8th & 9th May at Muthoot College of Nursing, Kohenchery. On May 12th Our III Yr, IV Yr Students and Faculties fro our college participated in Rally which was held from General Hospital, Adoor and ended in Holy Cross College of Nursing, Adoor. In Auditorium all the simultaneous programme were arranged and Deputy D.M.O Pathanamthitta, Dr.Eby Sushan, District Programme Manager and Dr.Subhahan.S, Medical Superintendent-General Hspt, Adoor given Felicitations. All the panel members discussed effectively on the role of Nurses and contribution by every citizen constantly in day today life. Various cultural Programmes by Students and Nurses was performed and made the day memorable.

“The first Wealth is Health” based on this Our first year B.Sc Nursing students of Ninth batch organized A Fun filling colorful Food Carnival event on the following days on June 20th to 26th based on different types of nutritional foods and their values. Students were divided into six groups each group containing five students. During the days they prepared various therapeutic diets with its nutritive values. Their Coordinator Organized the Programme. More than 20 sorts of diets were organized by students in an interesting manner.

As a part of III year B.Sc Nursing Mental Health Nursing requirement we had a visit to Gandhi Bhavan, Pathanapuram on 06/07/2019. We reached there at 10.30am and welcomed by trust members and they gave an orientation about Gandhi Bhavan. After that there was a prayer meeting. Mrs. Aleyamma illustrated the history of Gandhi Bhavan and its activities. Mr.Punalur Somarajan is the founder and managing Director of Gandhi Bhavan. Gandhi Bhavan is taking care of 1200 destitute and abandoned inmates of different ages ranging from month old baby to 106 year old grandma. Their facilities are old age home, special school for children, palliative care services, care of disabled person, pre legal help etc. After that Mr.Amal Raj trustee and assistant secretary of Gandhi Bhavan talked about different activities running under the trust of Gandhibhavan. During that time students donated their contributions to the inmates of Gandhi Bhavan. The interaction between old age people and other inmates was a good experience to the students. Even a lunch has been arranged with all the members. So it was a memorable memory during the visit.

As a part of community health nursing requirement 38 student from 2nd year bsc nursing of Chitra college of Nursing visited the sewage treatment plant , Lifeline hospital Adoor on 19/01/2019 with 2 faculty members.In the introduction session the plant officer Mr.Sethu introduced and welcomed us to the plant. Then he divided the student into two groups. Then he took a detailed class regarding the biomedical waste management, the functions of incinerator and types of incinerator, water treatment step etc. The formation of biogas and its utilization was very interesting topic.At the end of the visit the student got a very good knowledge regarding sewage and its treatment. The visit was very informative and it was a good one for upgrading the practical knowledge and skill of the students as well as teachers.

The idea of putting the foundation of an educational institution is so inspiring: what was once planted as a sapling is now all grown into a large tree. With this root of remembrance we the Chitra College of nursing on January 12th 2019 witnessed a new event with the Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the ninth batch of B.Sc Nursing. The programme was colorful as the whole batch students adorned in their uniforms, marched along with melodious songs which made the atmosphere an enjoyable one. After invoking God’s blessings. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr.L.Jayachandran, Founder & Chairman of Chitra College of Nursing. The distinguished guest Mr.P.K.Thampy, INC-KNMC Member lit the lamp and inaugurated the function. He stressed the point that the students should be role models for the society, and he also added that they should consider each and every patient as their parents, brothers and sisters and care them with love and compassion. The First year coordinator Mrs. Shalini S Nair delivered the Nurses pledge. The Chief Guest of the day, Mr.P.K.Thampy, INC Member, in his valuable message expressed that the nurses should spread the glitters of light to the horizons of the earth for those who are helpless and needy.
