The world cancer day which is celebrated annually on 4 February was conducted and celebrated in Govt.hospital, Adoor.The students of II yr and first year B.Sc(N) from Chitra College of Nursing, Pandalam participated in the programme enthusiastically. The programme started at 10 am with the prayer song at the OP reception area of Govt.hospital Adoor. The programme was presided by Dr Subaghan, MBBS, med superintendent and the other personalities on the dice were Dr.Sasi.P, chief surgeon, Dr.Karmchand, Chief Physician, Dr.Manoj orthopediacian, dr.harish, ENT specialist, Dr.Prasant, pediatrician and Mrs.Ajitha Nursing superintendent. The welcome speech was given by Dr.Sasi.P and the presidential address was given by Dr.Subaghan.The doctors gave awareness given by Dr.Subaghan. The doctors gave awareness regarding cancer in various parts of the body.
The programme was patient friendly as the patients and the by stands were allowed to ask queries regarding g various cancer. The answer for queries was given at the spot by the doctors. After the queries students programme including skit performance by II year b.sc nursing students was presented before the audience based on cancer them 2019. “I am and I will” students also prepared chart and banners on cancer awareness which was placed on the reception area for the audience and people to read and gain knowledge. The programme ended by 12.45 pm. The programme was informative and helped students to understand the importance of early identification and management of cancer.
College union student election was co-ordinated by the secretary and Principal as per the date of publication of valid nomination list. As per the Bye laws of KUHS (2018-2019) Election was conducted on 21.12.18. A total of 140 students voted for election. Election was conducted for the following post; chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, general secretary, joint secretary, University Counsellor, sports, arts and editor secretary. Ms.Ponnu eldose from IV Yr B.Sc (N) was selected for University Union Counsellor from our college. The results was forwarded to KUHS Student affair and Hard copy of affidavit was send on 27.12.18.
Based on the world Down syndrome observation day celebration, Lifeline Hospital had organized a Medical Camp along with Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society, Adoor. Our III Yr and IV Yr students participated in the programme. The inauguration was lighted by Dr.Pappachan, Managing Director of Lifeline Hospital. During the day they conducted Medical check up for nearly 20 Down Syndrome children and they undergone various investigations. Senior Consultant Dr.Sreelatha, Genetistics organized a interactive sessions with the parents of Down Syndrome children and lot discussions were gone related to their rehabilitative process. Finally Dr.Elsie Oommen, Consultant Psychiatrist from Medical trust Hospital, Kochi carried out a class on “Future perspectives and mental support for Down Syndrome children” was conducted. The programme given a mesmerising moment for our students and faculty. Finally gifts were distributed for the childrens and lunch was provided. Our students interacted with the parents and children and made them happy by their cultural programmes.
